One team for the whole arc — plan, care, pass it on — so a family's lawyer is still there when the plan is used.
What we do
Owners who keep practicing get liquidity and a services team for marketing, intake, billing and administration, technology and hiring support. That leaves them free to practice.
Owners who are ready to retire can sell to an attorney licensed in their state, on their own timeline. Staff are kept on, and clients are looked after. Read more about partnering or retiring.
Why elder law, estate planning and probate
An estate plan is written long before it's used. A will signed today may not reach probate for twenty or thirty years.
That makes continuity the heart of this work. Clients and their families need a lawyer for the long run. Original documents need careful safekeeping. And many of these firms are run by one owner who built the practice over decades. Planning for what comes next protects the clients as much as the owner.
Why New York and northern New Jersey
This is a region of long-standing community practices, built on relationships with families, local courts and the financial advisors, CPAs and care managers who refer clients. Staying within Long Island, Westchester, the five boroughs and northern New Jersey keeps the work close to the firms and their clients.
Attorney-led
Laurel Way Partners is attorney-led. Every law practice it works with stays owned by lawyers. A stake in a firm is held only by an attorney licensed in that firm's state, never by Laurel Way Partners. Legal decisions stay with each firm's own lawyers. Laurel Way Partners itself is not a law firm and does not provide legal services.
Confidentiality and fees
Every conversation is confidential. A nondisclosure agreement is signed before any detailed information about your practice changes hands, and nothing about the conversation is made public. If you go ahead with a sale, clients are notified as the rules require.
Owners pay no fee to talk, to share information under an NDA, or to close. Every term, including any cost for the services team if you partner, is put in writing in plain English.
